Be allergy aware this Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day may be very different this year for many of us, I’m sure. For those with food allergies celebrating Valentine’s Day with the ones they love or simply using it as day to have a pamper, can be challenging. However, you are spending this Valentine’s day be allergy safe!

- Make sure you check labels of any sweets or chocolates you may buy. Even dark chocolate can sometimes have traces of milk so make sure you check the may contain labels too!

- Many of you may decide to order a take away today. By law businesses who sell catered food need to inform you of the major 14 allergens. I would recommend to always phone the restaurant prior to ordering the food and inform them of your allergies. Ask the staff about the ingredients, how they prepare the food and whether there is any contamination risk. Ask the staff to write a free from claim saying allergy free for and your name on the packaging of your order. Ask them to tell the delivery person this is an allergy free order. Then always double check with the delivery person the order they gave you is specifically for you and is allergen free.

- Practice safe sex! Be aware that condoms can contain latex and milk so make sure if you have an allergy to this to choose allergy free alternatives.

Image description: An infographic with a light pink background. In the middle there is a photograph of Ayah she is holding a glass of red wine and smiling. Around the photograph are 5 postcards one with the Statue of Liberty, one with pyramids, one of a heart, one with red and white stripes and one with a map.
